Peru is the most geographically diverse and exciting of all the South American nations.   Visualizing a mountainous region, most people are unaware of the country’s immense desert coastline and its lush tropical rainforest along the eastern border.  Dividing these contrasting environments is a range of breathtaking peaks, the Andes, over 19,000 ft. high and 250 miles wide spanning the entire length of the nation.  So distinct are these regions that it is difficult to generalize about the country.  Suffice to say that Peru offers a unique opportunity to witness a diversity of spectacular scenery, as well as a community of culture that welcomes the visitor to their land.  The country is alive with music, dance and fiesta from every distinct region.  The Peruvian cuisine is one of the best in the Americas due to its oceanic and tropical resources.

The population of Peru is almost 28 million.  There are two official languages, Spanish and Quechua, but there are endless other indigenous languages spoken throughout the nation.  The eleventh-highest country in the world, Peru’s mountains reach over 22,000 ft. above sea level in the Cordillera Blanca range.  The Andes here are the highest mountain range anywhere in the tropics.
