The climate of Bhutan varies greatly depending on elevation.  Along the southern border area it is tropical; temperate in the central region and cold in the north where you will find year-round snow.

Summer monsoon arrives in Bhutan from late June to late September.  Views over the Himalayas from the high pass are usually obscured during this time.
Rain commonly falls overnight while the days are relatively dry.  It is a beautiful time to visit Bhutan as many species of wild orchids are in full bloom during the late summer season.

Spring season is spectacular as rolling hillsides are filled with rhododendron blossoms.  Autumn (late September through November) is typically mild and clear.  The fall colors are vibrant and views of the Himalayas are breathtaking.
